Featured Scientist – Tom Cummins

We are pleased to present Tom who is next up in the Featured Scientist series. Tom is an undergraduate student at Cardiff University who is joining the Microbiomes, Microbes and Informatics group for a summer placement. So here’s Tom!

Tell us a bit about yourself
Tom Cummins, Portsmouth/Cardiff, Current Cardiff University Biological Sciences student, Summer placement experience with Dr Morse (Cardiff University) on probiotic interactions with Candida. Interested and excited about potential of probiotics to treat physical and mental conditions in the future.

What are you currently working on/what are your scientific interests?

What do you like most about science/being a scientist?
Learning new and exciting things and having the chance to help people all around the world.

Who is your scientific inspiration?
My mum!

What career/general advice would you give to someone in school thinking of studying in STEM?
Follow your interests, be observant and ask questions!
